Metal Detecting takes centre stage in a brand-new television programme being broadcast on ITV4 in December.
Produced by the team behind Shed & Buried and Find It Fix It Flog It, Henry Cole's Great British Treasure Hunt challenges five teams of passionate metal detectorists to uncover the buried history in the grounds of a stately home, but there's a catch. They only have 48 hours to complete the task.
In this one-off hour-long special, the detectorists are given exclusive access to Sudeley Castle in Gloucestershire, which was built in the 15th century on an even more historic site, where there is rumoured to be a buried hoard of Saxon coins.
Whichever team finds the most valuable artefacts wins the day, although there will also be an award for the most historically significant find.
Henry Cole's Great British Treasure Hunt will be broadcast on ITV4 at 9pm on Tuesday 8th December 2020.
